Dear {{ 'Short Salutation' | form_value | default: 'Friend' }},
A quick action on your part today could help move Oregon towards a healthy climate future.
The Joint Ways and Means Committee is the next legislative step for HB 2020, the cap and invest bill. Activists like you helped ensure the bill dedicates funding to natural and working lands—fully 20% of the climate investments made by this bill—as well as those communities most affected by climate change.
But we're not done yet: in the face of industry opposition and delay tactics, your action today is critical for moving the bill towards final passage. Please urge {{'https://www.actionnetwork.org/letters/ways-and-means-support-hb2020'|letter}} {{ LetterTitleName | default: 'your state legislator' }} to address climate change by voting yes on the strong version of HB 2020 ("A-Engrossed") in the Joint Ways and Means Committee.
As the bill gets closer to passing, lobbyists have proposed sweeping amendments that remove the binding emissions target of 45% reduction by 2035 and make major exceptions for polluting industries. These are desperate delay-and-kill tactics by polluters that will be held accountable if the bill passes. We can't afford to let them get away with it.
Find out more and take action here—thank you!
Sincerely,
Laurie Wayburn
President, Pacific Forest Trust
P.S. Thank you for taking action today to help Oregon pass effective climate legislation that invests in natural and working lands and impacted communities—Oregon is seeing the effects of climate change as never before and acting now is imperative.
